Thank you for checking us out. We would love to see you in person, however, you can feel confident that our faith group is happy to welcome you in a variety of ways. Whether you choose to worship in person or attend remotely in your car or online, we are glad you chose to be with us and we most assuredly want you to have a positive experience.
What to expect
When you arrive for in-person worship: Inside the building on the entrance level you will find coat rooms, if needed, as well as an elevator that can be used to take you to the main floor sanctuary if you need a lift. Upon entering the back of the worship space, a greeter or usher will offer you a printed service schedule, or you can choose to follow the service on our video screens at the front of the worship space. Either will allow you to participate freely. You may choose any seat in the church – we do not have assigned seating! Currently, wearing a mask is optional, however we follow any mandated or safety guidelines as required by state and local authorities.
When you choose to participate by worshiping in the parking lot: Outdoor ushers will guide you to a parking spot, offer you a service schedule as well as a communion kit, and answer questions if you have them. Turn your radio dial to 93.1 FM.
When you choose to worship online: You can access our service in several ways, but the easiest is to click the link found on this website or on our Immanuel Lutheran Church Facebook page. You can also go to YouTube, search for Immanuel Lutheran Church Grand Ledge, Michigan, and find our video link there. This webpage, Immanuel Lutheran Grand Ledge has a link to the Livestream/Recording on the home page.
Typical Worship (non-holiday)
What should I wear? Any attire that makes you feel comfortable. We have no dress code.
How long is the worship service? Approximately 1 hour.
Starting time? Pre-service music starts approximately 10 minutes before the worship service begins at 10:00 a.m.
Are children welcome? Not only welcome but encouraged! Don’t worry if they fidget or aren’t perfectly quiet. We call it “making a joyful noise!” Currently, because of COVID-19 disruptions, we don’t offer a Sunday School program. But we hope that changes soon.
Will I/we be singled out? No. We never put any visitors on the spot.
What about communion? We celebrate communion every Sunday and you are welcome to participate. Immanuel offers communion to any baptized person who believes that Jesus is Lord. Children who have never communed before are offered a blessing. Instructions are given as to how we commune by the pastor prior to communing.
Am I required to sing? No requirement. You can choose to participate or not. However, Immanuel has a long history of musical talent, both instrumentally and vocally, so you will enjoy plenty of hymns and special music prepared by the organist/pianist, our praise team band and/or the choir. Feel free to listen or join in.
Am I expected to give an offering? Offerings are purely optional. If you choose to give, there will be an offering basket in the back of the church. We appreciate any support.
Will I be asked to make any commitments? No. Any participation you might like in any of our groups or activities is optional. If you have questions, don’t hesitate to ask any member or the pastor about opportunities when you are ready.
Where can I learn more? You can call our church office during office hours, Mon-Fri 9am-3pm or leave a message and we will get back to you as soon as we are able.
